27th May, 2009 This month's notable observation is that the corn I planted many weeks ago turned out to be not only edible, but also sweet and absolutely delicious. I am amazed at this achievement, which was a total random event. I am not a gardener, I just put the seeds in the seedling tray, then transfered the young plants to the garden bed, and they grew and I was lucky enough they ripened up before the cold winter came. Now, the important point is that the freshly picked corn is nothing like the corn one buys in ths shops or markets. It is sweet and not starchy at all. The plant needs some sun (those corn plants that I planted by the fence did not so as well as the ones I planted in the sunny spot near the pond). Luke is building a glasshouse, yupie!!! next |
